Adani Energy Subsidiary Secures 2,500 MW Power Deal with MSEDCL for 25 Years

· · 2 min read

Adani Energy Solutions' subsidiary, Powerpulse Trading Solutions Ltd (PTSL), has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement to supply 2,500 MW of round-the-clock power to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL). This significant deal follows an earlier Letter of Award issued to Adani Power.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Powerpulse Trading Solutions Limited (PTSL), has finalized a substantial 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL). Under this agreement, PTSL will supply 2,500 megawatts (MW) of round-the-clock power to MSEDCL, bolstering Maharashtra's energy supply.

The PPA, signed on September 8, 2026, formalizes the terms of a Letter of Award (LOA) that was initially issued to Adani Power Ltd (APL) on April 2. Adani Power subsequently assigned all rights and obligations arising from this LOA to PTSL, facilitating the current agreement. Adani Energy Solutions highlighted that this transaction aligns with PTSL’s expertise in multi-source energy aggregation, power portfolio management, and optimizing power supply for its clients, thereby strengthening its market position.

Expanding Energy Infrastructure and Portfolio

This long-term power supply deal is a critical development for Adani Energy Solutions, reinforcing its commitment to India's energy sector. The company's strategic focus extends beyond power supply to include robust transmission infrastructure.

Last month, Adani Energy also secured a significant transmission project valued at an estimated capital expenditure of Rs 4,700 crore. This project is designed to evacuate renewable energy generated in Karnataka and deliver it to major load centers within Maharashtra. The initiative is also set to support the burgeoning pumped storage ecosystem in regions such as Satara, Pune, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Recent Market Activity and Investor Movements

The news of the MSEDCL power deal comes amidst other recent developments concerning Adani Energy Solutions. The company was in the news last week following disclosures that investor GQG Partners had further reduced its stake in the firm. As of August 31, GQG Partners' holding in Adani Energy stood at 3.46%, down from 4.14% at the end of the June quarter. This marks at least the second consecutive quarter of stake reduction by GQG in an Adani group entity, with similar stake cuts observed in Adani Power Ltd, Adani Enterprises Ltd, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, and Adani Green Energy Ltd during the June quarter.
