The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which operates under the popular Amul brand, has announced a significant price revision for its ghee and butter products. Consumers will now pay Rs 50 more for a litre of Amul ghee and Rs 15 more for a kilogram of Amul butter.
New Prices in Effect Ahead of Festive Demand
This latest price adjustment comes just as the country gears up for the festive season, a period traditionally marked by increased demand for dairy products. The new rates are effective immediately across various pack sizes.
For Amul butter, the revised prices are:
- 1 kg pack: Rs 595
- 500g pack: Rs 300
- 200g pack: Rs 155
- 100g pack: Rs 78
Amul ghee will now be available at Rs 690 per litre.
Impact on Household Budgets
The hike is expected to put additional pressure on household budgets, especially during a time when many families increase their spending on food and sweets. Industry analysts suggest that rising input costs, including feed, fodder, and transportation, have contributed to the necessity of these price increases.
This is not the first time Amul has adjusted its prices this year. The dairy giant has periodically revised rates for various products, citing operational cost pressures and ensuring fair returns to milk producers.
“The decision to increase prices was a difficult one, but necessary to cover rising production and operational costs, ensuring sustainability for our milk producers,” stated a GCMMF spokesperson, emphasizing the cooperative’s commitment to farmers.
Consumers are advised to check the latest prices at their local retailers as the new rates roll out across the market.
