Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra recently reacted to an extraordinary incident in Bihar, where a brand-new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV was lifted by a crane and parked on the rooftop of a two-storey house. The unusual sight quickly drew widespread attention after images circulated online.
A Unique Parking Solution in Gopalganj
The vehicle reportedly belongs to Manoj Yadav, a resident of Gopalganj, Bihar, who is currently working in Israel. Yadav had recently acquired the Scorpio Classic and was concerned about its security while he was away from home. Initially, he left the SUV under the care of a driver. However, when the driver departed, Yadav's family was left without a reliable person to regularly oversee the newly purchased car.
Facing the dilemma of leaving the valuable vehicle parked outside without supervision, the family devised an unconventional solution. They arranged for a crane to hoist the Scorpio onto the sturdy roof of their two-storey home, ensuring its safety and preventing potential theft or damage.
Anand Mahindra's Reaction and Concerns
Reacting to the viral story, Anand Mahindra took to social media, humorously stating, "Now that’s what you call taking parking to the next level." While he praised the family's ingenuity and their clear affection for the vehicle, the industrialist also voiced significant safety concerns regarding the structural integrity of the house.
"I've always known the Scorpio could climb almost anywhere. But this is taking it a little too literally. Full marks for ingenuity & affection for the vehicle, but I confess I'm worried about whether that roof was designed to bear the weight. Please don't try this at (your) home!" Mahindra cautioned in his message.
Mahindra, whose company manufactures the popular Scorpio Classic SUV, highlighted the potential dangers of such an arrangement, emphasizing that residential rooftops are typically not designed to support the substantial weight of a vehicle. The incident serves as a peculiar example of extreme measures taken for vehicle security.
