Delhi's Hot Air Balloon Rides Return November 14 at Baansera Park, Fares Reduced

· · 2 min read

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to resume tethered hot air balloon rides at Baansera Park from November 14. Flights will ascend 100-150 feet for 7-12 minutes, with reduced fares expected to attract more visitors.

Delhi residents and tourists will soon have another opportunity to experience a unique aerial view of the city as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) prepares to relaunch tethered hot air balloon rides. Starting November 14, the popular attraction will once again operate at Baansera Park in Sarai Kale Khan, marking its return for the favourable North Indian ballooning season.

Sky-High Experience with Reduced Fares

The rides, which proved popular during their initial phase last November before a suspension in March, will continue in the same format. Each balloon flight will remain tethered to the ground, ascending to a height of approximately 100-150 feet. Designed for short excursions, each flight is expected to last between 7 and 12 minutes and can accommodate up to four passengers.

To encourage more visitors this season, organizers are planning to reduce ticket prices. While last year's fares were around ₹2,300 per person, reports suggest the revised price could be approximately ₹2,000. Additionally, special discounted rates are anticipated for student groups, potentially as low as ₹1,500 per person. Families, individual visitors, and corporate groups may also benefit from a planned 20 percent discount.

Booking and Safety Measures

The DDA is collaborating with private operator Air Safari India to manage the service. An online booking system is currently being developed to streamline reservations for both locals and tourists. The operator has reportedly secured all necessary approvals, including a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) license specifically for tethered balloon operations up to 150 feet.

Before the public launch on November 14, trial runs will be conducted to ensure operational readiness and safety. Initially, one balloon will be deployed, with the possibility of adding a second later, depending on public demand and the overall response to the service. The rides are expected to operate generally from November to February, though actual flights will be subject to weather conditions and regulatory directions.
