Ekta Nagar, Gujarat — Tourists visiting the iconic Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, now have a new way to experience the region's scenic beauty, with the introduction of a premium air-conditioned Vista Dome Coach bus service. Launched jointly by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and Gujarat Tourism, this initiative aims to transform travel into a comprehensive sightseeing experience.

Prime Minister Inaugurates New Service

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the Vista Dome bus service on November 2, 2026, even taking a ride aboard one of the specially designed coaches. Guided by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the project is part of a broader effort to enhance tourist comfort and accessibility around the Statue of Unity, a key attraction dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Unmatched Features for a Premium Journey

The new Vista Dome buses are distinguished by their transparent, dome-shaped roofs, offering passengers unparalleled views of the open sky and surrounding landscapes while maintaining an air-conditioned environment. Each coach is designed for a premium travel experience, seating 23 passengers in revolving and fully adjustable reclining seats for maximum comfort.

  • Panoramic Views: Transparent dome roofs provide expansive views.
  • Comfort Seating: 23 revolving, fully adjustable reclining seats.
  • Modern Amenities: Equipped with a premium LED Smart TV, CCTV cameras, a mini refrigerator, tea and coffee-making facilities, and mobile charging points.
  • Enhanced Safety: Features include an advanced fire detection and suppression system, toughened glass, and emergency hammers.

Investment and Future Expansion

Five AC Vista Dome Coach buses have been manufactured in India to international standards for this initiative. Each coach represents an investment of approximately Rs 2.19 crore, totaling Rs 10.95 crore for the fleet. Currently, two buses have commenced operations, with the remaining three expected to be introduced within the next two months. Tourists can book tickets directly through the official GSRTC website.

The exteriors of these buses are adorned with vibrant graphics showcasing various prominent tourist attractions across Gujarat, including the Somnath Temple, Dwarka Temple, Gir National Park, and the White Rann of Dhordo, among others. The state government has also announced plans to expand similar Vista Dome services in phases to other major tourist destinations and heritage routes throughout Gujarat, further bolstering the state's tourism infrastructure.
