Hindustan Copper Shares Soar on Record Copper Prices & Tariff Hopes

· · 2 min read

Hindustan Copper shares jumped nearly 5% to Rs 533 on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as global copper prices reached a record high. The surge is attributed to expectations that former US President Donald Trump may impose tariffs on refined copper imports.

Hindustan Copper Ltd. witnessed a significant surge in its stock value, with shares climbing 4.69% to settle at Rs 533 on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. This notable rise comes amidst an unprecedented climb in global copper prices, driven by market speculation.

The primary catalyst for the escalating copper prices, as reported by Bloomberg, is the growing expectation that former US President Donald Trump might introduce tariffs on imports of refined copper. This anticipation has pushed three-month copper futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) to a record high, reaching $14,617 a tonne after an increase of 0.7% on Tuesday.

Technical Outlook for Hindustan Copper

Market analysts have offered varied perspectives on Hindustan Copper's immediate future on the technical charts. Nilesh Jain, Head of Technical and Derivative Research at Centrum Finverse, suggests the stock will likely trade within a specific range in the short term.

"From a short-term perspective, I think Hindustan Copper is likely to remain in a range, Rs 550 on the upper side and Rs 480 on the lower side. We expect the counter to remain range-bound within this particular range," Jain told Business Today.

Conversely, AR Ramachandran, a Sebi-registered research analyst at Tips2trades, maintains a bullish stance on Hindustan Copper based on daily charts. He identifies Rs 520 as a key support level.

"A daily close above the resistance of Rs 537 could lead to an upside target of Rs 581 in the near term," Ramachandran noted.

Strong Q1 Financial Performance

Further bolstering investor confidence, Hindustan Copper reported robust financial results for the first quarter of the financial year 2027. The company's profit attributable to owners saw a remarkable 163% year-on-year (YoY) increase, reaching Rs 353 crore, up from Rs 134 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Revenue from operations also experienced substantial growth, rising 81.4% YoY to Rs 936.5 crore, compared to Rs 516.4 crore in the same quarter last year.
