Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) aims for 1 million connected car sales in India by 2027. Its connected vehicle penetration has increased five-fold from 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026, with over 0.8 million cars currently on roads.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is making significant strides in the connected car segment, announcing an ambitious target of 1 million cumulative connected vehicle sales in India by 2027. This goal comes as the automaker reports a five-fold increase in connected car penetration across its portfolio.

The company revealed that over 0.8 million Hyundai connected cars are currently on Indian roads. This impressive growth sees connected vehicle technology adoption rise from just 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026, highlighting a rapid shift in consumer preferences towards integrated in-car technology.

Bluelink Technology Driving Connectivity

Hyundai first introduced its Bluelink connected car platform in 2019, debuting with the Hyundai Venue. Since then, the technology has evolved to offer more than 70 features designed to enhance safety, security, and convenience for drivers and passengers. Key functionalities include remote vehicle monitoring, comprehensive vehicle health diagnostics, precise location tracking, trip history logs, remote commands for various car functions, and even a digital key system. Bluelink also facilitates in-car payments, streamlining transactions on the go.

Further enhancing user interaction, Bluelink supports over 450 AI-powered voice commands, available in five different languages. HMIL has set an even longer-term vision, aiming for cumulative connected car sales to exceed 2 million units by 2030.

Leadership Insights and Future Plans

Tarun Garg, MD & CEO of HMIL, emphasized the growing importance of connected vehicles. "The growing adoption of connected vehicles reflects the evolving expectations of customers and the increasing role of technology in shaping mobility," Garg stated. He affirmed the company's commitment to advancing software-defined mobility and expanding connected technologies throughout its product lineup as it works towards the 2027 sales target.

Garg also highlighted a strategic move to integrate connected and electric mobility. Hyundai's upcoming mass-market electric SUV will feature next-generation connected car technology as standard across all variants, signaling a future-ready approach to vehicle ownership experiences.

Technological Evolution and Customer Support

Hyundai's journey in connected technology has seen continuous innovation. In 2020, the company introduced over-the-air (OTA) map updates, ensuring navigation systems remain current. This was followed by the launch of next-generation audio, video, navigation, and telematics (AVNT) technology in 2022. Most recently, in 2025, Hyundai rolled out its advanced Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), further integrating digital functionalities into the driving experience.

Beyond convenience, Hyundai's connected technology has proven crucial in emergencies, assisting over 500,000 motorists through its SOS and roadside assistance services. The demand for connected features has been particularly strong in popular models such as the Creta, Venue, and i20, underscoring the market's readiness for advanced in-car connectivity.
