ICICI Life Insurance is set to significantly expand its network of women financial advisors, targeting the recruitment of 20,000 new professionals across India by the end of fiscal year 2027. This ambitious growth is part of the company's 'Narishakti' initiative, designed to empower women with flexible and rewarding career opportunities in the financial services sector.
Empowering Women in Finance
As of September 30, 2026, ICICI Life Insurance already boasts over 78,000 women advisors, who constitute approximately 32% of its total advisor base. Remarkably, these women contribute a substantial 45% to the company's overall agency business. In key markets such as Bengaluru, Kerala, and Mumbai, their contribution exceeds 50%, highlighting their significant impact.
Amish Banker, Chief Distribution Officer at ICICI Life Insurance, emphasized the company's belief that 'Talent has no gender.' He noted the exceptional performance of women advisors in understanding customer needs and providing optimal solutions. "Our women advisors have left no stone unturned to understand our customers’ pulse," Banker stated, underscoring their commitment and effectiveness.
The Narishakti Initiative: Flexibility and Support
Launched in 2024, the Narishakti initiative is tailored to support women from various walks of life, including homemakers, salaried professionals, and businesswomen, in building successful careers as financial planners. The program offers comprehensive training and ongoing support, crucially allowing participants to work according to their own schedules, thus accommodating family responsibilities and other commitments.
The company highlights that the initiative requires no upfront investment, making it accessible to a wider demographic of aspiring financial professionals. Banker pointed out the inherent qualities of Indian women, such as empathy, strategic problem-solving, strong emotional quotient, and commitment, which are invaluable in the insurance business for nurturing long-term client relationships.
Long-Term Engagement and Achievements
ICICI Life Insurance also celebrates the long-term association of its women advisors. Data from September 30, 2026, shows that nearly half (47%) of its women advisors have been with the company for over 10 years, indicating high retention and career satisfaction.
Furthermore, the initiative has fostered high-achieving professionals, with more than 500 women advisors qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a global benchmark for top-performing life insurance and financial services professionals. The expansion aligns with the government's vision of 'Insurance for All by 2047,' positioning women advisors as key drivers in achieving this national goal.
