· · 2 min read

IIM Bangalore's Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) has secured the 21st position globally in the Financial Times Masters in Management 2026 ranking. The institute also retains its No. 1 spot among Indian business schools.

IIM Bangalore has achieved a significant milestone, breaking into the global top 25 business schools in the prestigious Financial Times Masters in Management (MiM) 2026 ranking. Its flagship two-year full-time MBA program, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), now stands at an impressive 21st position worldwide.

This marks a notable ascent for the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, which was ranked 28th globally in 2025 and 41st in 2024. The institution has also firmly retained its standing as India's top-ranked business school on the list, being the only Indian institution to feature in the global top 25.

Key Factors Driving IIMB's Rise

The institute's improved ranking is attributed to its stronger performance across several critical career-related parameters:

  • Weighted Salary: A significant increase in the Weighted Salary score indicates improved earning outcomes for graduates.
  • Career Progress: The institute's Career Progress rank climbed from 90 in 2025 to 69.
  • Careers Service: Its Careers Service rank also saw an improvement, moving from 11 to 8 globally.
  • Alumni Network: The Alumni Network Rank dramatically rose to 19 globally from 31 last year.
  • Value for Money: IIM Bangalore's Value for Money Rank improved to 65 from 78 in 2025.

Alumni-related indicators carry a substantial 56% of the overall weight in the Financial Times assessment, making these gains in career outcomes a pivotal factor behind IIM Bangalore's improved standing.

Director's Remarks and Future Outlook

Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge at IIM Bangalore, commented on the achievement, emphasizing the global impact and value of an IIMB education.

“The FT MiM 2026 rankings bear testament to the transformational value of an IIMB education and the impact our graduates are making globally,” said Prof. Kumar. “We benchmark our curriculum, methods and outcomes against the best in the world to ensure that students are equipped to navigate unprecedented business complexities with curiosity as well as with judgment. The strong gains in career outcomes reaffirm the value of this approach.”

Beyond career-related metrics, IIM Bangalore also demonstrated progress in diversity and sustainability measures. The share of women on its board increased to 44% from 40%, and its ESG Net Zero Teaching Rank improved to 74 from 86.

Ranking Methodology

The Financial Times assesses business schools using 19 distinct criteria. Alumni feedback contributes 56% of the overall score, providing a real-world perspective on program effectiveness. The remaining 44% is based on data submitted directly by the institutions. Factors considered include employment outcomes, return on investment, diversity, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, and internationalization.
