Infosys Foundation's Springboard Program Reaches Key Milestone
Amidst the positive market sentiment, the Infosys Foundation made a significant announcement regarding its Springboard Livelihood Program. The initiative has successfully enabled more than 2.5 lakh (250,000) job offers across India, marking the halfway point towards the Foundation's ambitious goal of creating 5 lakh (500,000) job opportunities by 2030.
Launched last year, the Springboard Livelihood Program is designed to connect young individuals with meaningful employment through industry-relevant skilling. It operates in collaboration with 20 implementation organizations, including Nirmaan Organization, ICT Academy, Magic Bus, Centum Foundation, and the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India). The core objective is to bridge the existing gap between academic education and industry employment demands.
Impact and Future Collaborations
- The program has facilitated over 1.17 lakh job offers for graduates.
- More than 96,000 job offers have been extended to undergraduates.
- Significantly, over 1.25 lakh job offers were secured by women.
- Over 1,000 job offers were made to persons with disabilities, underscoring the program's inclusive approach.
Sumit Virmani, a trustee at Infosys Foundation, emphasized the program's philosophy, stating, "At Infosys Foundation, we believe the true success of education is not the number of people skilled, but the number of lives meaningfully transformed through employment." He added that reaching this halfway milestone demonstrates the powerful outcomes achievable when learning is closely aligned with industry requirements, fostering economic independence and social mobility.
V. Srikanth, CEO of ICT Academy, praised the program for empowering young people, particularly those from underserved communities and first-generation learner backgrounds, with crucial industry-relevant and digital competencies. He highlighted that linking learning directly to real-world employment opportunities is vital for financial independence.
The initiative continues to expand its reach, having partnered with the AssisTech Foundation for its employment platform and planning collaboration with The Association of People with Disability to further broaden career access for individuals with disabilities.
