Jefferies Sees Strong Growth in India's Defense Sector
Global financial services firm Jefferies has initiated comprehensive coverage on several prominent Indian defense sector companies, issuing 'Buy' ratings for Solar Industries India Ltd and Astra Microwave Products Ltd. Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), India's primary missile manufacturer, received a 'Hold' rating.
The brokerage's optimistic outlook is primarily driven by a significant uptick in India's domestic defense spending and a robust increase in defense exports. According to Jefferies, India's domestic defense capital expenditure is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16 percent over the next four years. This growth is also reflected in the private sector's increasing contribution, with its share of revenue among key listed defense firms rising from 9 percent in fiscal year 2023 to 16 percent in fiscal year 2026.
Solar Industries Poised for Expansion
For Solar Industries, Jefferies has set a target price of Rs 28,160. The firm highlights Solar Industries' expanding defense business, which encompasses a diverse range of products including ammunition, explosives, rockets, and drones, as a key driver for its projected growth and 'Buy' recommendation.
Astra Microwave Products on a Growth Trajectory
Astra Microwave Products received a target price of Rs 2,055 from Jefferies. The brokerage estimates that Astra Microwave's revenue will achieve a substantial 19 percent CAGR over the next four years, underpinning its positive 'Buy' rating.
Bharat Dynamics Receives 'Hold' Rating
While receiving a 'Hold' rating, Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) was given a target price of Rs 1,280 by Jefferies. Analysts anticipate BDL to deliver a 30 percent earnings-per-share (EPS) growth over the coming four years, reflecting steady but not exceptional growth compared to its peers in the defense sector.
