Jio Platforms Ltd, the digital subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has made a significant impact on the global telecommunications landscape by becoming the world's sixth-most valuable telecom company by market capitalization (m-cap) following its stock market debut. The company achieved an impressive valuation of approximately $131 billion, according to Bloomberg data.
The debut, which occurred on October 28, 2026, saw Jio Platforms list at Rs 1,358, marking a premium of 21.36 per cent over its issue price of Rs 1,119. Global Ranking and Competitors
Jio Platforms' $131 billion valuation places it just ahead of India's Bharti Airtel Ltd, which holds a market cap of around $130 billion. Globally, Jio Platforms now ranks behind industry giants such as China Mobile ($221 billion), Verizon ($182 billion), T-Mobile ($157 billion), AT&T ($141 billion), and Deutsche Telekom ($135 billion).
The company's strong performance also means it outranks other major global players, including Japan's NTT ($98 billion), China Telecom ($89 billion), and KDDI Corp ($72 billion), which complete the top ten in the global comparison.
Impact on Indian Market
Domestically, Jio Platforms' robust stock market entry had a ripple effect, propelling the entire Reliance Group past the Tata Group to claim the title of India's most-valued business conglomerate by combined market capitalization. Individually, Jio Platforms commanded an m-cap of Rs 13.05 lakh crore on the BSE, surpassing Airtel to become the second-most valued listed company in India, trailing only its parent company, RIL. This surge helped push the combined market cap of the Reliance Group beyond Rs 30 lakh crore, with the Tata Group subsequently moving to the second spot with a combined market value of approximately Rs 25.51 lakh crore.
