Jio Platforms IPO Set to Become India's 4th Most Valued Firm

· · 2 min read

Jio Platforms' upcoming Rs 30,213 crore IPO is poised to make it India's fourth-most-valued listed company. Its implied market capitalization will trail only Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, and HDFC Bank.

Jio Platforms Ltd is on track to become India's fourth-most-valued listed company following its significant Rs 30,213 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO). At the upper end of its price band, the Mukesh Ambani-led digital services giant is projected to achieve an implied market capitalization of Rs 10,30,490.55 crore.

This valuation places Jio Platforms behind only three other Indian titans: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), which will maintain its No. 1 spot with a market capitalization of Rs 16,40,076 crore; Bharti Airtel Ltd, valued at Rs 11,63,697 crore; and HDFC Bank Ltd, with a market capitalization of Rs 11,18,773 crore.

Jio's Strategic Shift and Market Leadership

Analysts highlight Jio's successful evolution from a capital-intensive telecom network rollout to a highly profitable digital monetization engine. With substantial 5G network capital expenditure largely completed, the company's capital intensity is rapidly decreasing. Religare Securities noted that Jio's earnings growth is driven by a consistent Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) trajectory, the premiumization shift from 4G to 5G, expanding data throughput, and growing enterprise cloud/AI digital services.

For its parent company, Reliance Industries Ltd, the Jio Platforms IPO is expected to be a pivotal structural inflection point. Historically, conglomerate stocks often trade at a holding-company discount due to complex segment valuations and internal capital allocation. The independent listing of Jio establishes a clear, quoted market price for RIL’s largest growth asset, enhancing transparency and potentially reducing this conglomerate discount.

Telecom Market Dynamics and Future Outlook

The Indian mobile market is dominated by four key players, with the top three holding over 97% of the mobile broadband market share as of June 30, 2026. Jio leads this segment with a 49.78% market share, followed by Bharti Airtel at 35.47%, Vodafone Idea at 12.51%, and BSNL at 2.20%.

Nomura analysts suggested that Jio strategically delayed a tariff hike, which was previously expected by mid-2026, to solidify its position as the leader in both subscribers and revenue market share before the IPO. While Airtel has managed to close the revenue market share gap in previous tariff hikes, Jio aims to ensure a favorable narrative ahead of its listing. Industry-wide tariff hikes are anticipated, with Nomura's base case projecting one in 3QFY27F.

"Jio's earnings compounding is propelled by steady ARPU trajectory, 4G-to-5G premiumisation, expanding data throughput, and enterprise cloud/AI digital services," Religare Securities stated in a research note.
