Shares of JSW Infrastructure Ltd. surged to a fresh all-time high on Tuesday, climbing 7.32 percent to Rs 375.25. The stock has demonstrated significant momentum, gaining 52.17 percent over the past six months, reflecting strong investor confidence.
Key Growth Catalyst: Inland Container Depot
The recent rally is significantly bolstered by an announcement made earlier this month regarding the company's subsidiary, JSW Port Logistics Pvt Ltd. The subsidiary received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from the Inter-Ministerial Committee, Ministry of Finance, for establishing an Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Kudathini in Karnataka's Ballari district.
This proposed facility marks a strategic expansion, as it will be the first ICD in the Ballari region. It is designed to handle both import and export cargo, subject to the LOI's terms and conditions, and is expected to be operational within one year from the date of issue.
Brokerage Insights and Future Outlook
Elara Securities provided a positive assessment of JSW Infrastructure's performance, noting a resilient first quarter of FY27. This strong showing occurred despite a challenging environment in West Asia, which impacted the Fujairah Liquid Terminal. Elara attributed the overall positive results to robust domestic port volumes and sustained growth in the logistics segment.
Looking ahead, Elara Securities highlighted that JSW Infrastructure is entering a new growth phase. The company aims to achieve a port capacity of 400 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by FY30. This ambitious target is planned through a combination of brownfield expansions, new greenfield projects, and public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives.
Strategic Expansion and Earnings Growth
The brokerage also pointed to other growth drivers, including the expansion of the logistics business via Navkar, increasing domestic cargo volumes, the deployment of additional rail rakes, and the development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals. Elara anticipates that the company's earnings growth will be supported by improved operating leverage, an increase in third-party cargo, and a deeper integration between its port and logistics operations.
While Elara Securities maintained its discounted cash flow (DCF)-based target price of Rs 393, implying a valuation of 20 times FY28E EV/EBITDA, it revised its rating on JSW Infrastructure from 'Buy' to 'Accumulate'.
