KL Rahul-Backed Boldfit Secures ₹400 Crore for Major Retail Expansion

· · 2 min read

Bengaluru-based sports and fitness brand Boldfit has raised over ₹400 crore ($42 million) in a Series B funding round led by Bharat Value Fund. This capital will fuel nationwide retail expansion, manufacturing scale-up, and product innovation efforts.

Boldfit, a prominent Bengaluru-based sports and fitness brand, has successfully concluded a Series B funding round, securing over ₹400 crore (approximately $42 million). The investment was spearheaded by Bharat Value Fund, managed by The Wealth Company Alternates, a part of the Pantomath Group. Existing investor Bessemer Venture Partners also participated in this significant round.

The fresh capital infusion is earmarked for an ambitious strategic expansion. Boldfit plans to significantly broaden its retail footprint across India, enhance its manufacturing capabilities, accelerate product innovation, and explore selective acquisitions to deepen its presence in specific product categories. This move marks a crucial step in the company's transition from a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model to a stronger omnichannel presence.

Strategic Growth and Celebrity Endorsements

Founded in 2018 by Pallav Bihani, Boldfit offers a diverse range of products including sportswear, athletic footwear, sports equipment, and various fitness essentials. The company has demonstrated robust growth, reporting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) exceeding 80% over the last three years and serving more than 2 crore customers annually.

The brand has attracted notable celebrity investors, including Indian cricketer KL Rahul, who invested in July 2024 and subsequently became a brand ambassador. Former tennis icon Sania Mirza is also among Boldfit's celebrity backers, adding significant brand visibility and credibility.

Investment Context and Market Trends

This Series B round follows a previous Series A funding in 2024, where Boldfit raised ₹110 crore from Bessemer Venture Partners. For Bharat Value Fund, this marks its fourth substantial investment in the past 12 months, with an average investment size of around ₹400 crore. Notably, this deal represents Bharat Value Fund's largest investment to date within the consumer sector, underscoring their confidence in Boldfit's potential.

The funding arrives at a time when Indian consumer brands are increasingly looking beyond purely e-commerce channels. There's a growing trend towards expanding into offline retail, boosting local manufacturing, and diversifying product categories to capture the rapidly expanding Indian fitness and active-lifestyle market. Avendus Capital served as the exclusive financial adviser to Boldfit and its shareholders for this transaction.
