Millions of Indian consumers relying on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidies are urged to complete their Aadhaar-based eKYC by June 30, 2026. This mandatory authentication process is crucial for beneficiaries, particularly those under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), to ensure uninterrupted access to their subsidy benefits.
Oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (for Indane Gas), Bharat Petroleum (for Bharat Gas), and Hindustan Petroleum (for HP Gas), have issued advisories emphasizing the approaching deadline. Consumers who fail to complete the eKYC process before June 30 risk the suspension of their LPG subsidy.
Why is eKYC Mandatory?
The government made Aadhaar-based authentication mandatory for PMUY beneficiaries in March as part of a broader effort to streamline subsidy distribution and prevent misuse. This move also comes amid concerns over global energy supply disruptions, including those impacting critical routes like the Strait of Hormuz, prompting measures to secure LPG supply and distribution efficiency.
The latest clarification specifies that the eKYC requirement applies only to LPG consumers who have not yet completed the process. Consumers not covered under PMUY and those who have already completed their eKYC are generally not required to undergo Aadhaar-based biometric authentication again.
How to Complete Your LPG eKYC
The eKYC process is designed to be simple, secure, and free of cost, with multiple options available to consumers:
For Indane Gas Consumers:
- IndianOil ONE App: Download the app, register with your mobile number and email ID, link your 16-digit LPG ID, and verify consumer details. Navigate to the "My Profile" section, select the re-KYC option, provide consent, and proceed with face authentication via the AadhaarFaceRD app. Ensure your Aadhaar biometrics are unlocked.
- AadhaarFaceRD App: Can be used directly for face authentication.
- Distributor/Delivery Personnel: Contact your Indane distributor or delivery person for assistance with the eKYC process.
For Bharat Gas Consumers:
- Hello BPCL App: Register on the app, select the e-KYC option from the homepage, verify your identity using an OTP sent to your registered mobile number, accept terms and conditions, and complete the authentication.
For HP Gas Consumers:
- HP Pay App: Register on the app, create a four-digit MPIN, log in, go to the "MY HP" section, select LPG services, and choose the e-KYC option. After providing consent, use the "Capture Face" feature, which redirects to the Aadhaar FaceRD app for biometric verification.
- AadhaarFaceRD App: Can be used directly for face authentication.
With the June 30, 2026 deadline fast approaching, all eligible LPG consumers who have not yet completed their eKYC are strongly advised to do so immediately to ensure they continue to receive their vital subsidy benefits without interruption.
