The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) saw its shares continue an upward trend for a second straight day, with the stock closing at Rs 1,762.65 on Wednesday, reflecting a 0.61 percent gain. This continued rise comes after the country's largest stock exchange made its market debut on September 24, 2026, and now commands a market capitalization of Rs 4,36,255.88 crore.
Expert Outlook on NSE's Performance
Several market participants are expressing a largely positive sentiment regarding NSE's stock, particularly from a long-term investment perspective. Despite the recent gains, the stock currently trades approximately 6 percent below its recent high.
Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer at Master Capital Services, advises investors to closely monitor valuations and earnings performance. Singh also noted that Rs 1,680 could serve as a crucial support level. For those with a long-term view, he suggests continuing to hold the stock and considering accumulation during market dips.
NSE as a 'Deep Value' Investment
Deven Choksey, Managing Director of DRChoksey Finserv, views NSE as a significant long-term investment opportunity, describing it as a "deep value" investment. Choksey highlights several factors supporting this view:
- Exclusive Business Nature: The exchange business is not easily accessible, making it a unique and exclusive market segment.
- Liquidity Benefits: Established exchanges like NSE inherently offer strong liquidity.
- Scope for New Products: There is considerable potential for the introduction of new financial products and services.
For investors who did not secure an allotment during the NSE IPO, Choksey recommends a systematic investment approach. He advises a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) strategy, suggesting a long-term horizon of at least three to five years. Choksey further characterized NSE stock as a "shock absorber" within a portfolio, capable of providing comfort during volatile market conditions.
"The long-term investment in this case is, I think, a deep value investment largely because the exchange business is exclusive. It's not a common business. Not everybody can come into the exchange business," stated Deven Choksey.
