Shares of the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSE) are officially set to commence trading on the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) under the 'Permitted-to-Trade' category starting September 24. This marks a significant development for the financial market, with NSE also scheduled to debut on BSE Ltd on the same day.
NSE's Trading Admission Details
According to a circular issued by the Metropolitan Stock Exchange, NSE shares will be admitted for dealing on its capital market segment. It's important to note that companies admitted under the 'Permitted-to-Trade' category do not execute a formal listing agreement with the exchange, meaning they do not provide the full disclosures typically required for listed entities.
Successful IPO Paves the Way
The admission to trading follows the successful completion of NSE's substantial initial public offering (IPO), which raised Rs 22,568.94 crore. The IPO saw robust investor interest, being subscribed 5.69 times by its closing date on September 21. A total of 50.40 crore shares were bid for, against 8.86 crore shares initially on offer.
Investor Category Breakdown
- Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs): This segment demonstrated exceptional demand, subscribing 12.68 times. QIBs placed bids for 31.97 crore shares, significantly exceeding the 2.52 crore shares reserved for them.
- Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs): The NII portion was subscribed 6.54 times, receiving bids for 12.36 crore shares against an offer of 1.89 crore shares.
- Retail Investors: Retail participation was also strong, with the segment subscribed 1.35 times, attracting bids for 5.96 crore shares against 4.41 crore shares reserved.
- Employee Portion: Employees of NSE showed considerable interest, with their reserved portion subscribed 2.36 times, receiving bids for 10.22 lakh shares against 4.33 lakh shares on offer.
Financial Performance Overview
In the fiscal year 2026 (FY26), NSE reported revenue from operations of Rs 16,601.31 crore. This compares to Rs 17,140.68 crore in FY25 and Rs 14,780.01 crore in FY24. Profit after tax (PAT) for FY26 stood at Rs 10,302.06 crore, a decrease from Rs 12,187.69 crore in FY25.
Operating EBITDA for FY26 also saw a decline to Rs 11,097.90 crore from Rs 12,646.88 crore in the preceding fiscal year. The operating EBITDA margin was 66.85 per cent in FY26, down from 73.78 per cent in FY25, while the PAT margin was 50.98 per cent, compared to 55.30 per cent a year earlier.
