Jio Platforms Debuts Strong
Jio Platforms, the digital arm and subsidiary of RIL, commenced trading at Rs 1,358, marking a significant 21.36 percent premium over its issue price of Rs 1,119. The stock demonstrated robust performance, climbing to a high of Rs 1,423.80 before closing its debut day at Rs 1,419, securing a 26.81 percent gain over its initial issue price.
RIL and JFSL Shares Slip
In contrast to Jio Platforms' strong showing, shares of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) saw a decline of 3.46 percent, closing at Rs 1,158.50. Similarly, Jio Financial Services Ltd (JFSL) experienced a modest dip of 0.89 percent, settling at Rs 205.40 by Wednesday's close.
Experts See Buying Opportunities
Despite the recent dip, several market experts view the current valuations of RIL and JFSL as attractive entry points for investors, particularly those with a medium to long-term outlook.
Reliance Industries: A "Good Buying Opportunity"
G Chokkalingam, founder of Equinomics Research, highlighted RIL as a prime buying opportunity. "I believe Reliance Industries is a good buying opportunity," he stated, noting Jio Platforms' strong listing and robust medium- to long-term outlook. Chokkalingam emphasized RIL's rapidly growing core businesses and expanding new energy ventures, suggesting it's an opportune moment to acquire RIL stock. While Jio Platforms is deemed more suitable for very long-term investors, he advised focusing on RIL for a short- to medium-term play.
Jio Financial Services: Undervalued at One-Time Book Value
Regarding JFSL, Chokkalingam expressed surprise at its valuation. "The stock is trading close to one-time book value," he observed, calling it "cheap in terms of valuations." He pointed out JFSL's strategic partnerships with global leaders across various business verticals, contrasting its current valuation with other financial services companies that often trade at around three times their book value. He described JFSL as a "fabulous story unfolding" and a "great opportunity."
Positive Outlook from WealthMills Securities
Kranthi Bathini, Director of of Equity Strategy at WealthMills Securities, also offered a positive assessment of RIL. Citing RIL's significant holding in Jio Platforms, along with prevailing global crude oil prices and the company's refining capacity, Bathini suggested that RIL is trading at appealing levels. He advised investors with a medium- to long-term perspective to "buy Reliance Industries on every dip." Bathini further recommended purchasing JFSL shares at their current market price.
Gradual Accumulation for Long-Term Investors
Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer at Master Capital Services, advised long-term investors to consider accumulating RIL shares gradually on dips, rather than engaging in aggressive buying. He noted that the Jio Platforms listing could unlock value for RIL shareholders, though immediate gains are not guaranteed. Singh identified RIL's retail, oil-to-chemicals, and new energy segments as key growth drivers. He also suggested buying JFSL at current levels, urging investors to consider valuations, earnings growth, and market volatility.
