· · 2 min read

Cricketer Rishabh Pant has appealed to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for assistance in acquiring land in Dehradun. Pant, who seeks to shift his base from Delhi, has faced a three-year struggle to find a suitable property.

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has publicly appealed to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help in purchasing land in Dehradun. Pant expressed his long-standing desire to move his permanent residence from Delhi back to his home state of Uttarakhand.

Pant's Three-Year Land Search Frustration

In a late-night post on social media platform X, Pant described the process of land acquisition as a “complex ordeal” and a “nightmare.” Despite trying for three years, the Roorkee-born wicketkeeper-batter stated he had been unable to secure a suitable, large property to build his first home among his “Pahadi people.” He emphasized his love for Uttarakhand and his commitment to contributing to its development.

Pant clarified that he was not seeking a free gift but wished to buy the land from the government at official rates. His appeal highlights a clear intention to establish roots in his native state, a significant move for the international sports star.

CM Dhami Assures Full Support

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami swiftly responded to Pant's appeal, commending the cricketer as the “pride of Uttarakhand.” Dhami praised Pant’s splendid performance and achievements that have brought glory to Devbhoomi globally. He also lauded Pant's love for his homeland and his sentiment of returning to contribute.

The Chief Minister assured Pant of official intervention, stating that instructions would be issued to concerned officials who would contact him shortly to ensure “all possible cooperation in accordance with the rules.” Dhami reiterated the state's readiness to welcome and assist its celebrated son.

Uttarakhand's Highest Taxpayer Seeks Home

Rishabh Pant was recently identified as Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, having paid ₹23.84 crore in taxes. This appeal marks a significant step for Pant, who initially moved to Delhi in his youth to pursue his professional cricket career. Currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian squad, Pant's plea signals his clearest intent yet for a permanent return to his roots in Uttarakhand.
