RVNL Shares Slip 1% Despite 18% Q1 FY27 Profit Jump to Rs 159.36 Crore

Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) experienced a decline on Tuesday, ending 1.08% lower at Rs 228, even as the state-run railway infrastructure company announced an 18.46% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27).

RVNL Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

RVNL's consolidated net profit reached Rs 159.36 crore in Q1 FY27, a significant rise from Rs 134.53 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. However, on a sequential (quarter-on-quarter) basis, the profit saw a 14.81% decline from Rs 187.07 crore in Q4 FY26.

Revenue from operations for Q1 FY27 increased by 10.55% YoY, totaling Rs 4,321.23 crore, up from Rs 3,908.77 crore in the year-ago quarter. Similar to profits, revenue also experienced a sequential dip, falling 35.46% from Rs 6,695.91 crore in Q4 FY26.

Expenses and Operational Details

Total expenses for the quarter rose 6.85% YoY to Rs 4,244.91 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 3,972.92 crore in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, total expenses decreased by 35.03%.

Rail Vikas Nigam serves as the executing arm of Indian Railways, tasked with undertaking various projects assigned by the Ministry of Railways. The company operates on a turnkey basis, managing the entire project development cycle from conceptualization and design to contract awarding, project management, and commissioning.

Following the earnings announcement, RVNL shares closed at Rs 228 on Tuesday. The stock has seen a substantial decline of 36.95% so far this year.
