Stand-up comedian and content creator Samay Raina has contributed ₹10 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as the state grapples with a severe flood crisis. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the donation in a social media post, confirming the transfer and expressing gratitude for Raina’s support during this challenging time.
The significant contribution comes as thousands of people across Assam continue to face the devastating impact of the floods, which have caused extensive damage to homes, roads, and agricultural land. Official figures indicate that approximately 1.55 lakh individuals are still affected across 13 districts, with the current flood season having claimed 98 lives.
While the situation has seen some improvement from its peak, many families remain in urgent need of assistance. The state government has initiated a comprehensive door-to-door survey to assess the full extent of the damage and identify those requiring immediate support. Assam experiences annual monsoon floods, with the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries frequently overflowing after heavy rainfall, leading to widespread inundation and displacement.
Other Public Figures and Businesses Join Relief Efforts
Samay Raina is among numerous public figures, companies, and content creators who have stepped forward to aid the relief efforts in Assam. Earlier, actor Kartik Aaryan donated ₹1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Actor Randeep Hooda also visited flood-affected areas in Sivasagar, engaging with affected families and relief volunteers to observe ongoing aid operations.
Major business groups have also made substantial contributions. JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal pledged ₹5 crore, while Vedanta Group contributed ₹7 crore towards flood relief and rehabilitation. Actor Anupam Kher also donated ₹5 lakh. Furthermore, YouTuber Triggered Insaan and his family successfully raised approximately ₹70 lakh for Assam flood relief through a 50-hour livestream, garnering support from the online community.

He subsequently built a large online following through his stand-up comedy, YouTube videos, and chess-related content. His popularity further surged with the launch of "India's Got Latent," a comedy and talent show on YouTube in 2024, known for its unscripted format.
Raina has also been involved in public discussions and controversies related to his content, including past directives from the Supreme Court regarding certain remarks made on his show.
