STL Shares Climb as New Fibre Trunk Assemblies Boost Data Centers

· · 2 min read

Sterlite Technologies (STL) shares rose 3.29% after launching new pre-terminated fibre trunk assemblies for data centers. These innovations enable faster capacity deployment and reduce physical space for AI and cloud workloads.

Shares of Sterlite Technologies (STL) saw a notable increase on Friday following the launch of its new range of pre-terminated fibre trunk assemblies. The company's stock rose by 3.29%, reaching a high of Rs 851, up from its previous close of Rs 823.85.

This new offering strengthens STL's Neuralis data centre portfolio, specifically designed to meet the escalating bandwidth demands from artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. These innovative fibre trunk assemblies are engineered to help data centre operators bring new capacity online more rapidly while simultaneously reducing the physical space required.

Advanced Fibre Solutions for Hyperscale Data Centers

STL's latest pre-terminated fibre trunk assemblies boast a wide range, from 48F to an impressive 6,912F. A key advantage is their factory termination and 100% testing, which significantly addresses concerns around installation speed and potential field errors, especially as fibre counts continue to climb in complex data centre environments.

The portfolio includes both indoor and indoor/outdoor options. Indoor assemblies, ranging from 48F to 576F, are tailored for high-density MMC, MPO, and LC terminations within data halls. For campus, inter-building, and inter-row connections, STL offers indoor/outdoor assemblies spanning 144F to 6,912F.

Optimizing Space and Performance

The high-density, small-diameter design of these new assemblies allows operators to route substantially more capacity through existing pathways, trays, and conduits. Their outer diameters vary from a compact 5.8 mm for 48F trunks up to 32 mm for the largest 6,912F indoor/outdoor trunks. Connectivity options are versatile, supporting MMC, MTP/MPO, and LC connectors in Base-8, Base-12, Base-16, and Base-24 configurations.

The assemblies are available with single-mode ITU-T G.657.A2 fibre, offered in 200-micron or 250-micron variants, as well as OM4 multimode fibre for applications requiring shorter reach. Both indoor and indoor/outdoor products incorporate STL's patented IBR rollable ribbon technology, ensuring optimal performance validated by factory testing for every assembly.

"Every data center customer we work with is trying to solve the same equation, more capacity, less time," stated Dr. Badri Gomatam, CTO at STL. He emphasized that the new assemblies are specifically designed for dense networks, arrive pre-tested, and are ready to connect, prioritizing high density and faster deployment.

STL's strategic launch aims to empower data centre operators facing critical constraints related to physical space and the urgent need for expedited capacity deployment, solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving digital infrastructure market.
