Zerodha Boosts Instant Withdrawal Limit to ₹5 Lakh, Now Available Weekends; ₹1 Lakh Crore Paid Free

· · 2 min read

Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath announced an increase in the instant withdrawal limit from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh, now available daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, including weekends and holidays. The brokerage has processed nearly ₹1 lakh crore in free instant payouts since 2024.

Zerodha, India's largest stockbroker, has significantly upgraded its instant withdrawal facility, allowing customers to transfer up to ₹5 lakh daily from their trading accounts to their linked bank accounts. This marks an increase from the previous limit of ₹2 lakh and extends the service to weekends and market holidays.

Nithin Kamath, Zerodha's co-founder and CEO, shared the update via a post on X, highlighting the platform's commitment to providing greater flexibility for investors. Since its launch in 2024, Zerodha has processed approximately ₹1 lakh crore in instant payouts, all provided completely free of charge to customers.

Key Changes to Zerodha's Instant Withdrawal Facility

  • Increased Limit: The maximum daily instant withdrawal amount has risen from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
  • Extended Availability: The service is now accessible from 9 AM to 6 PM, every day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and public market holidays.
  • Free Service: All instant withdrawals remain free, aligning with Zerodha's policy since the facility's inception.
  • Minimum Withdrawal: The minimum amount for an instant withdrawal request remains ₹100.
  • Single Request: Customers are limited to one instant withdrawal request per day.

How to Access Instant Withdrawals

To utilize the enhanced facility, Zerodha users can log into their account, navigate to the 'Funds' section, select 'Instant Withdrawal,' enter the desired amount (within the new ₹5 lakh limit), and confirm the transaction. This streamlined process aims to provide quick access to eligible funds without waiting for standard processing cycles.

Important Considerations for Investors

While the instant withdrawal limit has increased, it's crucial for investors to understand that not all funds displayed in their trading account may be immediately eligible. Funds deposited on the same day, proceeds from recent share sales (due to settlement requirements), open positions, pending orders, and margin obligations can all impact the actual withdrawable balance.

Customers should always verify their 'withdrawable balance' before initiating a request. If an instant withdrawal request fails for any reason, users will not be able to place another instant request on the same day and will need to use the regular withdrawal facility instead.

Regular Withdrawals for Larger Amounts

For amounts exceeding the ₹5 lakh instant withdrawal limit, Zerodha continues to offer its regular withdrawal system. According to the brokerage's support documentation, investors can request regular withdrawals of up to ₹5 crore through its Console platform. Transactions exceeding ₹5 crore require a support ticket. These larger withdrawals follow standard processing schedules, typically taking longer than the instant option.
