Apple HomeView vs. Echo Show: A Deep Dive into Smart Display Features & Pricing

· · 3 min read

Apple's new HomeView smart display enters a competitive market, challenging Amazon's established Echo Show lineup. We compare their features, prices, and ecosystem compatibility to help you decide which smart home hub is right for you.

The smart display market, long dominated by Amazon's Echo Show, is seeing a new contender: Apple's HomeView. Designed to integrate seamlessly into the Apple ecosystem, HomeView brings a personalized experience to connected homes, while Amazon continues to offer a range of screen sizes and Alexa-powered automation at a more accessible price point.

Features and Design: Apple's Focus on Personalization

Apple's HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology, powered by an A18 chip. It includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with Centre Stage for video calls, ensuring users remain in frame during FaceTime conversations. Siri AI is deeply integrated, along with Apple Music and controls via the Apple Home app. A standout feature is its ability to recognize up to six household members, personalizing the experience for each individual. HomeView also supports HomeKit and Matter accessories, expanding its smart home capabilities.

In contrast, Amazon's Echo Show lineup offers more variety in screen sizes. The fourth-generation Echo Show 8 boasts an 8.7-inch HD display, while the Echo Show 11 provides an 11-inch Full HD experience. Both are equipped with Alexa, front-facing stereo speakers, a custom woofer, and Omnisense technology, which uses presence, motion, and temperature detection to trigger automated routines. Echo Show devices also allow users to connect compatible security cameras and video doorbells, viewing up to four live feeds simultaneously.

Ecosystem Compatibility and Privacy

Compatibility remains a key differentiator. Apple HomeView is a natural fit for households already invested in Apple devices and the Home app, offering a cohesive experience within that ecosystem. The Echo Show, on the other hand, caters to those who prefer Alexa and Amazon's broader smart home ecosystem, boasting greater compatibility across various smart home devices from different manufacturers.

Privacy features are also a consideration. Amazon's Echo Show models include camera and microphone privacy controls, with some supported models featuring a physical camera shutter for added peace of mind.

Pricing and Availability in India

The pricing strategy significantly separates the two devices. The Apple HomeView is set to cost ₹39,900 in India, with availability commencing on November 13, 2026. A wall-mounted version is also priced at ₹39,900, though it requires separate power and mounting solutions, with Apple's optional mounts starting at ₹6,900.

Amazon's Echo Show devices offer a more budget-friendly entry point. The Echo Show 8 is currently available for ₹18,999 (down from its launch price of ₹24,999), and the Echo Show 11 is priced at ₹24,499 (reduced from ₹26,999 at launch). Both Amazon devices are widely available through Amazon.in, Flipkart, and select offline retailers.

Which Smart Display is Right for You?

For individuals deeply integrated into Apple's ecosystem, HomeView's personalized experience and tight integration may justify its premium price. However, if a larger display, Alexa-based automation, and a lower starting price are priorities, Amazon's Echo Show lineup presents a more flexible and affordable option for managing your smart home.
