The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new WhatsApp-based service, allowing members to quickly check their PF balance, view transaction details, and access their passbook from their registered mobile number. This digital initiative aims to simplify access to critical provident fund information.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has rolled out a convenient new service that allows its subscribers to access critical provident fund (PF) information directly through WhatsApp. This initiative marks a significant step towards digitising member services, enabling millions to check their PF balance, view passbook details, and track transaction history with ease.

How to Access Your PF Details via WhatsApp

Accessing your provident fund information through the EPFO's WhatsApp service is straightforward. Members simply need to send a message from their registered mobile number to the designated EPFO WhatsApp helpline. The service is available in multiple regional languages to cater to a diverse user base.

  • Save the Number: First, save the official EPFO WhatsApp helpline number (usually 9966044425) to your phone's contacts.
  • Send a Message: Open WhatsApp, find the EPFO contact, and send a 'Hi' or 'Namaste' message.
  • Select Language: The system will prompt you to choose your preferred language from a list.
  • Request Information: You will then be presented with options such as 'PF Balance', 'Passbook', 'Last Contribution', etc. Select the relevant option.
  • Receive Details: The EPFO system will then send you your PF balance, latest contribution, and other requested details directly in the chat.

It is crucial that the mobile number used for this service is registered with your Universal Account Number (UAN) to ensure secure and accurate information delivery.

Benefits of the New Digital Service

This WhatsApp-based service offers several advantages for EPFO members:

  • Instant Access: Get real-time updates on your PF balance and transactions without needing to log into a portal.
  • Convenience: Access information anytime, anywhere, directly from your smartphone.
  • Reduced Hassle: Eliminates the need for multiple steps or visiting EPFO offices for basic inquiries.
  • Multilingual Support: Information is available in various Indian languages, making it accessible to a broader audience.

Other Ways to Check Your PF Balance

While the WhatsApp service is a new addition, EPFO continues to provide other digital avenues for members to check their PF status:

UMANG App

The Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) app offers a comprehensive suite of government services, including EPFO. Members can view their passbook, raise claims, and track their claim status through the app after linking their UAN.

Missed Call Service

By giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number, members can receive an SMS with their PF balance and last contribution details. This service is free of cost and requires UAN to be linked with KYC (Know Your Customer) details.

SMS Service

Members can also send an SMS to 7738299899 in the format 'EPFOHO UAN' followed by the first three letters of their preferred language (e.g., 'EPFOHO UAN ENG' for English) to receive their PF details.

These digital initiatives underscore EPFO's commitment to enhancing transparency and ease of access for its millions of subscribers, ensuring that provident fund management is more user-friendly and efficient.
