· · 2 min read

iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya has unveiled key features of the upcoming iQOO 16, positioning it as a 'true flagship.' It will boast the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme chip, a 2K 165Hz Samsung display, and a battery over 8,000mAh.

At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya provided insights into the brand's upcoming premium smartphone, the iQOO 16. Marya emphasized that the device is engineered to deliver a comprehensive 'true flagship' experience, excelling across all critical areas.

Powering Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme

The iQOO 16 is set to be powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme processor. According to Marya, this chipset currently holds the title for the fastest mobile CPU available globally. This focus on raw power aims to provide unparalleled performance for gaming and demanding applications.

Visual Excellence: Advanced Display Technology

Beyond its processing capabilities, the iQOO 16 will feature a Samsung M16 panel, boasting a 2K resolution and an ultra-smooth 165Hz refresh rate. Marya highlighted this as the 'most advanced display on a smartphone right now,' promising significant improvements for gaming, video consumption, and daily usage compared to previous generations.

Seamless Software: OriginOS 7 on Android 17

For its operating system, the iQOO 16 will ship with OriginOS 7, built upon Android 17. Marya noted that this software iteration brings substantial gains in smoothness and connectivity, contributing to a drastically improved user experience.

Enduring Power and Ergonomic Design

While specific milliamp-hour (mAh) figures were not disclosed, Marya confirmed that the iQOO 16 will pack a battery exceeding 8,000mAh. Despite this massive power source, the smartphone is designed to be remarkably lightweight, expected to weigh around 220 grams, and maintain a relatively slim profile. Marya stressed the importance of balancing speed, battery life, and thermal management for sustained, optimal performance.

Elevated Photography: A Focus on Camera Innovation

Challenging the perception that gaming phones compromise on camera quality, Marya asserted that the iQOO 16 will feature an advanced camera system. Though details remain under wraps, he indicated that users can expect 'exceptional performance,' particularly in low-light conditions, action photography, and portrait modes.

Market Positioning and Pricing

Regarding its market placement, Marya stated that the iQOO 16 itself would speak volumes, aiming to solidify iQOO's position among top-tier flagship manufacturers. When questioned about the global memory chip crisis and its potential impact on pricing, Marya acknowledged the industry-wide effects but refrained from quoting a specific price point for the smartphone at this time.

“If you’re buying the iQOO 16, you’re actually buying the fastest mobile CPU which is available in the world right now.” — Nipun Marya, iQOO India CEO
