Mumbai, India – Jio Platforms Ltd. is preparing for what could be India’s largest Initial Public Offering (IPO), leveraging its extensive 5G network and ambitious artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. Speaking at an IPO press conference on October 15, 2026, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani highlighted the company's rapid expansion and technological advancements.
Dominating 5G Beyond China
Ambani revealed that Jio has built the world’s largest 5G subscriber base outside of China within a mere three years since its rollout. He emphasized the company's achievement in facilitating the “fastest 4G-to-5G migration anywhere,” attributing a significant portion of India’s digital growth, over 60%, to Jio's services.
Pioneering AI Services for Millions
The robust 5G infrastructure has enabled Jio to deploy a newly announced Voice AI service to 53 crore (530 million) Indians. This advanced AI capability is designed to handle complex tasks such as summarization and transcription during calls, supporting over 12 Indian languages. Ambani indicated that Jio plans to introduce even more AI features for its customers in the near future.
In-House Innovation and Future Vision
Jio's competitive edge, according to Ambani, lies in its extensive in-house technology stack. The company has filed 7,220 patents, underscoring its commitment to developing proprietary solutions that enhance customer experience and service delivery. Looking ahead, Ambani also confirmed that 6G technology is on Jio's horizon, with plans to implement it as a software upgrade rather than requiring new infrastructure build-outs.
The anticipated IPO is expected to position Jio Platforms as India’s fourth most-valued firm, following Reliance Industries, Airtel, and HDFC Bank, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital economy.
