Zepto Leads LinkedIn's Top Startups 2026 Ranking; Pronto & Akasa Air Miss Top 10

· · 3 min read

Zepto, a quick-commerce platform, tops LinkedIn's 2026 list of India's leading startups. The ranking, based on employment growth and talent attraction, saw home-service provider Pronto and airline Akasa Air fall outside the top spots.

Zepto, the rapid grocery and essentials delivery platform, has secured the number one position on LinkedIn's prestigious Top Startups 2026 list for India. This annual ranking highlights 20 emerging Indian companies that have garnered significant professional attention, based on metrics like employment growth, professional engagement, jobseeker interest, and the ability to attract talent from established organizations.

While Zepto celebrates its leading spot, other recognizable names such as home-service provider Pronto and airline Akasa Air found themselves outside the top 10, ranking 12th and 20th respectively. Their positions underscore LinkedIn's unique evaluation methodology, which prioritizes factors beyond mere brand recognition or commercial success.

Understanding LinkedIn's Ranking Methodology

LinkedIn's Top Startups 2026 assessment period covered July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The ranking criteria are designed to identify companies that are not only growing but are also magnets for top talent and professional interest. It's a comprehensive look at a startup's health within the professional ecosystem, rather than just its market valuation or size.

The Top 10 Indian Startups of 2026

According to LinkedIn News India, the top ten companies span diverse sectors, from quick-commerce and AI to fintech and consumer brands:

  • 1. Zepto: Founded in July 2021 by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, this quick-commerce platform delivers groceries, electronics, and beauty products.
  • 2. topmate.io: Launched in May 2021 by Ankit Agarwal and Dinesh Singh, it enables professionals to monetize their expertise through consultations and digital products.
  • 3. Matiks: A gaming platform established in September 2024 by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar, and Sushant Timmapur, offering logic puzzles and mental math challenges.
  • 4. Figuring Out Media & Education: Raj Shamani's media venture, known for its podcast featuring business leaders and creators.
  • 5. Zetheta Algorithms: Incorporated in September 2023, this fintech company develops risk-profiling tools for investment and wealth managers.
  • 6. Snabbit: Founded in 2024 by Aayush Agarwal, offering on-demand household services like cleaning and cooking.
  • 7. Emergent: Launched in June 2025 by brothers Mukund Jha and Madhav Jha, this AI app-building platform helps users create applications with natural-language prompts.
  • 8. Weekday: A recruitment platform founded in 2021 by Amit Singh, Anubav Malik, and Chetan Dalal, utilizing AI to identify suitable candidates.
  • 9. Sarvam: The Bengaluru-based company, founded in August 2023 by Dr. Vivek Raghavan and Dr. Pratyush Kumar, focuses on generative AI technology for Indian languages and enterprise applications.
  • 10. PALMONAS: A demi-fine jewelry brand founded in March 2022 by Pallavi Mohadikar Patwari and Dr. Amol Patwari, which gained significant traction with Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor joining as a co-founder.

Why Pronto and Akasa Air Missed the Top Spots

Despite their high visibility, Pronto (12th) and Akasa Air (20th) did not achieve top 10 rankings. Pronto, a home-service platform launched in Gurugram in 2025, has over 600 full-time employees, connecting customers with hourly household help. Its relatively recent market entry and growth stage may offer some context, but LinkedIn's specific scoring for individual factors remains undisclosed.

Akasa Air, which commenced commercial operations in August 2022 with backing from investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and founded by former aviation industry leaders, also ranked lower than expected. LinkedIn's emphasis on employment growth, professional engagement, jobseeker interest, and talent attraction means that a company's overall size or brand recognition alone does not guarantee a high position. The ranking favors companies demonstrating dynamic growth in attracting and retaining talent within the professional sphere.
