Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Divya Mittal has announced the launch of her new political party, Jan Neeti Bharat. The party aims to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, focusing on citizen-centric policymaking and government accountability.

Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Divya Mittal has officially announced the formation of her new political party, Jan Neeti Bharat. The party is set to make its electoral debut in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with a stated mission to fundamentally shift the focus of governance towards its citizens.

Mittal, who opted for voluntary retirement from the IAS after 13 years of service, unveiled her political venture in a video message posted on X on Thursday, October 15, 2026. She emphasized that Jan Neeti Bharat's core objective is to ensure that governments remain accountable to the public throughout their five-year terms, rather than solely during election cycles.

"Politics rules over you. In Jan Neeti, you will be the ones who rule," Mittal declared, outlining her vision for a more participatory and responsive form of governance.

This announcement marks a significant career transition for Mittal, an alumna of both the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bengaluru, who also brings prior experience as a Wall Street trader. Her diverse professional background, spanning finance and public administration, now culminates in her entry into electoral politics.

The party's platform is expected to center on empowering citizens as active participants in policymaking and strengthening mechanisms for accountability between elections. While the intention to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has been confirmed, details regarding Jan Neeti Bharat's organizational structure, candidate selection, or specific electoral strategies have not yet been disclosed.

Mittal had previously signaled her entry into politics on September 29, following her resignation from the IAS on August 30, expressing a desire to pursue a new avenue in public service.
