In a powerful display against traditional gender bias, a family in Maharashtra's Beed district has welcomed their newborn baby girl with an elaborate royal procession. The Dahiphale family of Parli taluka organized a spectacular homecoming for baby Gargi and her mother, Kalpana Rishikesh Dahiphale, after their discharge from the hospital.
A Celebration Two Centuries in the Making
The family believes Gargi is the first girl born into their household in approximately 200 years, spanning four to five generations. This extraordinary event transformed a private family moment into a public celebration, drawing praise and attention as videos of the procession went viral across social media.
Instead of a typical return home, mother and child were chauffeured on a magnificent flower-decorated chariot. Gargi's grandfather, Limbaji Dahifale, expressed his profound happiness to the media, calling it "a great fortune to have a daughter in the family." He noted that years of yearning for a girl child had finally come to an end with Gargi's arrival. Her grandmother, Surekha Dahifale, affectionately referred to the baby as "Lakshmi Devi," invoking the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, highlighting the immense value and joy she brings to the family.
