Concord Biotech Stock Appears to Halve After 1:1 Bonus Issue Adjustment

· · 2 min read

Concord Biotech shares displayed a 50% price adjustment today, November 4, 2026, due to the company turning ex-bonus for a 1:1 bonus issue. Shareholders receive an additional share for each one held, with their total investment value remaining unchanged.

Shares of Concord Biotech Ltd. appeared to fall by approximately 50% on trading apps today, November 4, 2026. This significant price adjustment is a direct result of the company's shares turning ex-bonus for its pre-announced 1:1 bonus issue.

The board of directors had set Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the record date to determine eligible shareholders for the bonus equity shares. This corporate action means that for every one existing fully paid-up share, eligible shareholders will receive an additional equity share as a bonus.

Understanding the Bonus Issue Impact

While the share price adjusts proportionately, the total value of an investor's holdings remains unchanged. For instance, Concord Biotech shares, which settled at Rs 1,229.90 on Tuesday, opened at Rs 610 on Wednesday post-adjustment. The perceived 50-52% fall on some trading platforms is due to them potentially displaying the unadjusted price from the previous day.

Following the adjustment, the stock initially dropped to Rs 595 in early trading but quickly rebounded by 4.8% to Rs 623.65, pushing its total market capitalization close to the Rs 13,000 crore mark. The stock is currently 24% down from its adjusted 52-week high of Rs 807.03 (August 2026) but up 26% from its adjusted 52-week low of Rs 493.53 (April 2026).

About Concord Biotech and Investor Holdings

Incorporated in 1984, Concord Biotech Limited is an India-based, R&D-driven biopharma company, recognized as a leading API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) player in the country. The company's shares were listed in August 2023 at Rs 741 apiece and are currently trading approximately 70% above their adjusted IPO price.

Discretionary trusts named after the children of the late legendary investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala hold a substantial stake in Concord Biotech. These trusts collectively own nearly 2.52 crore equity shares (5.04 crore shares on a post-adjustment basis), representing a 24.10% stake in the company, valued at approximately Rs 3,143.10 crore.

Recent Financial Performance

For the September 2026 quarter, Concord Biotech reported an 11.2% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit, reaching Rs 70.65 crore. Revenue from operations also saw a significant rise of 25.1% YoY to Rs 309.07 crore. EBITDA grew by 17.9% YoY to Rs 104.81 crore, though margins slightly narrowed by 207 basis points to 33.91% for the quarter.

A bonus issue involves the distribution of additional shares to existing shareholders at no cost, typically funded from a company’s free reserves. While the number of shares increases, the share price adjusts proportionately, ensuring the total value of an investor’s holdings remains constant. Importantly, the receipt of bonus shares is not a taxable event.
