Mumbai, India — IDBI Capital has issued 'buy' ratings for a range of prominent financial stocks, including major banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), following a robust performance in NBFC credit growth during July 2026. The brokerage firm highlighted a significant acceleration in lending, particularly within the retail and agriculture sectors.
NBFC Credit Growth Surges to 14.9%
According to a report by IDBI Capital, NBFC credit growth accelerated to 14.9 percent year-on-year in July 2026, a notable increase from 10.6 percent recorded in the same period a year prior. The total outstanding credit expanded by 1.0 percent month-on-month, reaching Rs 59.9 lakh crore.
This surge was primarily fueled by retail loans, which saw a 21.4 percent year-on-year increase. Agriculture credit also demonstrated strong growth, rising by 18.0 percent. Within the retail segment, gold loans led the charge with a staggering 68.5 percent growth, followed by consumer durables at 51.5 percent, vehicle loans at 15.1 percent, and housing loans at 11.9 percent.
While services credit grew by 15.2 percent, it showed moderation compared to the previous year's 24.5 percent. Industrial credit remained subdued, increasing by 7.4 percent, with infrastructure credit growing at 6.2 percent.
