India's leading car manufacturers experienced a blockbuster October 2026, with Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles all posting impressive domestic sales figures. The surge was largely attributed to the festive season, which drove demand to unprecedented levels for several automakers.

Maruti Suzuki Leads with Highest-Ever Sales

Maruti Suzuki India recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic sales, reaching 216,789 units in October. This represents a substantial 20% year-on-year increase. Passenger car sales, encompassing mini, compact, and mid-size segments, also grew by 18% to 100,877 units.

Mahindra & Hyundai Achieve New Benchmarks

Mahindra & Mahindra celebrated its highest-ever monthly domestic SUV sales, moving 73,338 units, an increase of 2%. Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra, highlighted the festive season and a refreshed product portfolio, including the XUV 3XO ZNG, as key contributors to their record total vehicle sales of 131,109 units.

Hyundai Motor India also achieved its highest-ever monthly domestic sales, selling 62,799 units, marking a 16.7% growth. The Hyundai Venue alone recorded its best-ever monthly sales at 13,017 units. Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg credited strong festive demand and the newly launched Hyundai Bayon for the positive momentum.

Tata Motors and Kia India Show Strong Performance

Kia India also joined the ranks, recording its highest-ever monthly domestic wholesales since entering the Indian market. The automaker sold 33,462 units in October, a 13.22% increase year-on-year. This marked Kia's second consecutive monthly sales record, with the Seltos and Sonet models being primary volume drivers. Kia also noted its highest-ever monthly EV sales, growing 31% month-on-month, boosted by models like the Syros EV and Carens Clavis EV.
