· · 3 min read

Astra Microwave, Jain Irrigation, and Amara Raja shares declined following their Q1 results, impacted by profit drops and market factors. Info Edge, however, surged after reporting a significant 51% jump in net profit.

Major Indian companies experienced varied stock market reactions following the release of their June quarter (Q1) financial results. While some firms saw their share prices dip significantly, others posted robust gains, reflecting diverse performance across sectors.

Astra Microwave Products Ltd. Shares Fall

Astra Microwave Products Ltd. saw its shares tank by 9 percent, closing at Rs 1,673.50. This sharp decline came after the company reported a 24.15 percent drop in its Q1 net profit, which fell to Rs 12.34 crore compared to Rs 16.27 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations also decreased, moving from Rs 199.72 crore to Rs 176.66 crore year-over-year, as disclosed to stock exchanges on August 10.

Info Edge (India) Ltd. Surges on Strong Profits

In contrast, Info Edge (India) Ltd., the parent company of Naukri.com, witnessed a significant surge, with its shares climbing 5.52 percent to Rs 1,298. The company announced a consolidated net profit increase of 51 percent year-over-year, reaching Rs 446 crore from Rs 296 crore. Net sales for the quarter grew by 11.4 percent to Rs 881 crore. Billings saw a 17.5 percent rise, primarily driven by its Recruitment B2B segment, while Naukri B2C and Job Hai continued their expansion, maintaining high-margin profiles.

Jain Irrigation Systems Faces Headwinds

Jain Irrigation Systems experienced a decline in its stock price, as its Q1 performance was affected by volatile polymer prices and the timing of the monsoon season. These factors led to a deferral of some customer purchases in its domestic pipe and drip irrigation businesses. The company's cash profit for the quarter fell by 29.4 percent year-over-year to Rs 55.90 crore from Rs 79.20 crore. Total income also slipped 2.4 percent to Rs 1,508.40 crore from Rs 1,545.60 crore.

Despite the challenges, Vice Chairman and Managing Director Anil Jain expressed optimism. He noted an improved business momentum through May and June, successfully passing on higher raw material costs. Jain anticipates a positive outlook ahead, with stabilizing polymer prices and expected improved rainfall to bolster agricultural demand. The company remains confident in achieving double-digit revenue growth in fiscal year 2027 and reiterated its EBITDA margin guidance of around 14 percent on a standalone basis and 12.5 percent on a consolidated basis.

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd. Sees Profit Rise, Stock Dip

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd. reported an increase in its Q1 net profit, which rose to Rs 190.94 crore from Rs 164.80 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenue from operations also advanced to Rs 4,214.54 crore from Rs 3,401.08 crore. Despite the positive financial results, the company's scrip fell 3.84 percent, hitting a low of Rs 896.35, indicating a mixed market reaction to its performance.
