Superstar Rajinikanth's latest film, 'Jailer 2', has continued its phenomenal run at the global box office, crossing the significant ₹400 crore net mark in India within just 12 days of its release. The action-drama, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, reported a net collection of ₹9.45 crore on its 12th day, bringing its total domestic earnings to an impressive ₹408.15 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
Worldwide Box Office Milestone
Globally, 'Jailer 2' has achieved a massive cumulative gross of ₹733.35 crore. This figure comprises ₹477.85 crore from its India gross and a substantial ₹255.50 crore from overseas markets. The film's international performance has been particularly strong, contributing over one-third of its total worldwide earnings.
On its 10th, 11th, and 12th days, the movie added ₹16 crore, ₹14 crore, and ₹2.50 crore respectively from overseas territories, solidifying its position as a major international success for Kollywood cinema.
Chasing New Records
With its current trajectory, 'Jailer 2' is now setting its sights on surpassing the lifetime India net collections of other cinematic giants. The film is eyeing the records held by SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali', which concluded its India run at ₹421 crore net, and Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', which finished at ₹500.78 crore net. The coming days will be crucial in determining if Rajinikanth's latest blockbuster can claim these coveted spots.
Strong Performance Across Languages and BookMyShow Record
Tamil remains the dominant language for 'Jailer 2's domestic earnings, contributing ₹284.95 crore net so far. Telugu collections stand at ₹77.25 crore, Hindi at ₹39.95 crore, and Kannada at ₹6 crore. This consistent performance, especially in its primary market, has helped the film maintain momentum even as collections moderated slightly in its second week.
In a historic achievement, 'Jailer 2' has become the first Kollywood film to sell over 1 crore tickets on the popular online platform BookMyShow in just 12 days. By the end of Day 11, the film had sold 99,22,530 tickets. An additional 92,760 tickets sold on Monday between 7 AM and 8 PM pushed its cumulative total past the 1-crore mark, demonstrating immense audience engagement and demand.
