Following its listing, the stock quickly surged over 3% to reach ₹1,845 in early trading.
NSE Joins Elite Ranks as 10th Most Valued Company
With its strong debut, the NSE commanded a market capitalization of ₹4.56 lakh crore, positioning it as India’s 10th most-valued company. This places the exchange ahead of several major Indian corporations, including Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), Infosys Ltd, Sun Pharma, Titan Company Ltd, and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, underscoring its pivotal role in the nation's financial landscape.
Analyst Outlook and IPO Details
Ahead of the listing, Macquarie initiated coverage on NSE with an 'Outperform' rating, setting a target price of ₹1,965. This target suggests a potential 10% upside from the IPO issue price, with the foreign brokerage highlighting platform expansion as a key driver for NSE's future revenues. Macquarie lauded NSE as 'The Dominator,' citing its leading market share, robust technology stack, and deep liquidity as fundamental to India’s financialization.
The IPO, which was entirely an offer-for-sale of 12.64 crore equity shares by existing shareholders, successfully raised ₹22,562 crore. The shares were offered within a price band of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share. The offering garnered substantial interest, being subscribed 5.71 times overall, with qualified institutional bidders (QIB) showing particularly strong demand at 12.68 times subscription.
Market Leadership and Investor Base
NSE continues to maintain its dominant position across various market segments in India, including cash market turnover, equity derivatives trading, and currency derivatives trading. As of June 30, 2026, the exchange served over 26.13 crore registered investor accounts, encompassing 12.9 crore unique investors, 1,328 trading members, and 3,005 listed companies. The total listed market capitalization on NSE stood at more than ₹474.08 lakh crore.
The successful IPO was managed by a consortium of 20 lead managers, including prominent names such as Kotak Mahindra Capital, JM Financial, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup Global, among others.
