Sterlite Tech Reports Record Q2 Profit, Shares Rebound 10% on AI Infrastructure Demand

· · 2 min read

Sterlite Technologies announced a near three-fold jump in Q2 net profit to Rs 517 crore, driven by strong demand for AI-ready digital infrastructure. Shares rebounded 10% from day's low after the record results.

Pune, India – Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL) has reported its best-ever quarterly performance, with net profit nearly tripling to Rs 517 crore for the September quarter, up from Rs 197 crore in the same period last year. This strong financial showing propelled the company's shares to rebound 10.31 percent from their day's low on Friday, reaching a high of Rs 840 apiece in a knee-jerk reaction to the earnings announcement.

The connectivity solutions provider also achieved its highest-ever revenue and EBITDA, alongside a robust open order book. Revenue more than doubled year-over-year, climbing to Rs 2,529 crore from Rs 1,910 crore.

Demand for AI-Ready Digital Infrastructure Fuels Growth

Sterlite Technologies highlighted the accelerating demand for AI-ready digital infrastructure as a key growth driver. The company noted that hyperscalers are rapidly expanding data centers, which now require significantly more fiber per rack compared to earlier cloud architectures. This trend is boosting the company's integrated optical connectivity solutions segment, with the optical connectivity attach rate reaching an all-time high of 24 percent during the first half of fiscal year 2027.

Ankit Agarwal, MD of STL, commented on the performance, stating, “Q2 FY’27 is our best quarter yet, with the highest revenue and Ebitda in STL’s history. It reflects the strength of demand for AI-ready digital infrastructure.”

Strategic Agreements and Debt-Free Balance Sheet

The company's strong order intake and consistent execution throughout the quarter were supported by large, multi-year agreements with both hyperscalers and telecom operators. STL also reported a net debt-free balance sheet for the quarter, further underscoring its financial health. The profit after tax was significantly bolstered by strong revenue growth, margin expansion, and a one-time tariff refund gain.

Agarwal added, “The large multi-year agreements we secured this quarter, along with an open order book of INR 35,274 Cr, give us strong visibility as hyperscalers and telecom operators scale their digital infrastructure and networks.” This substantial order book provides a clear outlook for future business, as digital infrastructure continues its expansion globally.
