Apple has officially introduced its new 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the advanced M6 chip, to the Indian market. This latest professional laptop aims to deliver substantial upgrades for creators, developers, and business users requiring high-performance computing for demanding workloads. While maintaining its signature Liquid Retina XDR display and familiar design, the M6 processor is central to the device's enhanced capabilities, particularly in graphics, AI processing, and memory performance.
M6 Chip Delivers Significant Performance Boost
The new MacBook Pro features Apple’s M6 chip, which includes a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Apple states that the CPU now has two additional cores compared to the previous generation, while the GPU integrates Neural Accelerators into every core to improve graphics and AI processing efficiency. Users upgrading from an M5 MacBook Pro can expect up to 30% faster graphics performance and up to 25% faster on-device AI workloads. For those transitioning from an M1 MacBook Pro, the performance gains are even more pronounced, with up to 11 times faster graphics and 13 times faster AI performance.
The laptop also incorporates a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, which Apple claims is up to 1.9 times faster than the M5, accelerating tasks like image generation and AI upscaling. Standard configurations begin with 16GB of unified memory, configurable up to 32GB, offering a memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.
Enhanced Display, Longest Battery Life, and Robust Connectivity
The 14-inch MacBook Pro retains its stunning Liquid Retina XDR display, delivering up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness and an impressive 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. For professionals working in varied lighting conditions, a nano-texture display option is available to reduce reflections and glare.
A standout feature is the claimed battery life of up to 24 hours, marking it as the longest ever in a Mac. The device supports fast charging, capable of reaching 50% battery in approximately 30 minutes when using a compatible higher-wattage USB-C power adapter, such as Apple’s 96W adapter.
Connectivity options are comprehensive, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack. It supports up to two external displays and features a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a three-microphone array, and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio.
macOS 27 and Apple Intelligence Integration
The MacBook Pro runs on macOS 27 Golden Gate, which introduces Siri AI and integrates additional Apple Intelligence features across compatible applications. Siri now leverages personal context to assist users in finding information across messages, emails, and photos, answering questions, and performing tasks across apps. Users can also interact with on-screen content through Visual Intelligence and utilize Siri for text writing or editing.
Apple Intelligence enhances Safari with features such as automatic tab organization and notifications for website changes like price drops. It also enables the creation of custom Shortcuts automations using natural-language instructions and provides AI-powered photo editing tools within the Photos app. Siri AI is currently available in beta, subject to language and regional availability restrictions.
Pricing, Availability, and Sustainable Design in India
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip starts at ₹2,39,900 in India. Eligible students and educators can purchase it at a special education price of ₹2,27,900. The base model includes 16GB of unified memory and 1TB of SSD storage, with memory configurable up to 32GB.
