Nikita Bier, X's head of product, has announced he is stepping down from his executive role, marking another high-level exit for Elon Musk's social media company. Bier made the announcement via a post on X, stating it was "time to pass the torch and demote myself to my natural state: a poster."
While relinquishing his leadership position, Bier confirmed he will continue to serve as an advisor to the company. He cited the intense demands of the role, describing it as a "24/7 job," and expressed a need to take a break.
During his tenure, which began in July 2025, Bier oversaw significant overhauls to the platform. He highlighted "unprecedented growth in new users & engagement" and noted a 70-place improvement in X's performance on Apple's App Store rankings year-over-year.
Bier's product team was responsible for redesigning major components of the platform over the past 400 days, including the timeline feed, the Android application, the new user onboarding process, the notification system, and the chat and messaging experience. He acknowledged that more work remains but asserted the platform's foundation is now "stronger than ever."
A notable initiative under Bier's leadership in April involved a major change to X's content monetization policy. This update aimed to enhance content quality by reducing payments for accounts that primarily repost content, while offering higher payouts and verification tools for original creators.
Looking ahead, Bier also revealed the new leadership structure for the product team. Benji Taylor will take charge of design, Singhai will oversee core product engineering, and Dinkin Flicka will lead mobile engineering.
