Aban Ahmad, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad, tragically died in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was reportedly en route to meet his two elder brothers, who are currently incarcerated.
Police confirmed that the SUV carrying five occupants crashed into a road divider after the driver lost control. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 AM, resulted in the immediate death of Aban Ahmad and a friend identified as Sonu, son of Raja. Three other individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a local medical college.
Tragedy Continues for Atiq Ahmad's Family
The death of Aban Ahmad adds another somber chapter to the family of Atiq Ahmad, who himself was a prominent gangster-turned-politician. The family has been under intense public scrutiny due to numerous criminal cases involving Atiq and his relatives.
This latest tragedy follows the killing of another of Atiq Ahmad's sons, Asad Ahmed, more than three years prior. On April 13, 2023, Asad Ahmed and his associate Ghulam were shot dead in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in Jhansi. Both were wanted in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal in February 2023 and had a bounty of ₹5 lakh each on their heads.
Atiq Ahmad's Assassination
Days after Asad's encounter, Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were assassinated on April 15, 2023. They were shot at point-blank range by three assailants posing as journalists while being escorted by police for a medical check-up in Prayagraj. The killings, which were captured live on television, occurred as they were being questioned regarding the Umesh Pal murder case.
