Former BJP state president K. Annamalai delivered a powerful message to Generation Z on Monday, encouraging them to view a career in the Indian armed forces as a path to a fulfilling life. Speaking at a book launch event in Coimbatore, Annamalai asserted that there is "no higher purpose" than serving the nation in uniform.
Annamalai observed that today's youth often seek meaning and a grand purpose but may lack clear direction. "As Gen Z, you need a grand purpose; you are looking for a grand purpose in life today," he stated, proposing military service as the answer to this quest for meaning.
National Service Above Personal Ambition
The former IPS officer, who recently founded the organization 'We The Leaders', underscored the importance of national defense over individual aspirations. "If you want a purpose, the uniform gives you the highest purpose," Annamalai emphasized, urging young people to consider the uniformed services as a credible and honorable career option.
His remarks were made during the launch of 'Operation Sindoor-The Untold Story', a book authored by Indian Army veteran and geopolitical analyst Major Madhan Kumar. Annamalai lauded Major Kumar's contributions, both during his military service and as an author, for his efforts in educating Indian youth about the army's ethos, sacrifices, and vital role in national character building.
Annamalai's Background in Public Service
Annamalai himself has a distinguished background in public service. A 2011-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre, he served in the police force for approximately eight years before resigning in September 2019. During his tenure, he held significant positions, including Superintendent of Police in Udupi and Chikkamagaluru, and later as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru South, providing him with firsthand experience in public duty and leadership.
