· · 2 min read

Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, 85, grandmother of detained CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, passed away in Maharashtra after a prolonged illness. Delhi Police informed Dipke, offering him the choice to attend last rites or continue his protest detention.

Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, the 85-year-old paternal grandmother of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, passed away on October 10, 2026, at her home in Santuk Pimpri village, Hingoli district, Maharashtra. Her death followed a prolonged illness, having been unwell for approximately a month and previously hospitalized in Hingoli.

Amid his current detention in Delhi, Abhijeet Dipke was informed of his grandmother's demise by Delhi Police. Authorities have offered Dipke the choice to either remain in the national capital to continue his protest activities or return to Maharashtra to participate in her last rites, which are scheduled for Sunday at 10 am.

Abhijeet Dipke's Detention and CJP Protest

Dipke is presently detained in connection with a proposed CJP protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The demonstration targets Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, protesting alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to the CJP, Dipke, along with Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police from inside their aircraft shortly after it landed in the capital. The leaders had traveled from Mumbai specifically to participate in the planned protest.

Family Struggles to Contact Dipke

Dipke's family initially faced difficulties contacting him due to his detention. His cousin confirmed that while they could not reach Abhijeet directly, they had informed his parents, who were en route to Santuk Pimpri following the news of Savitribai's death.

Family sources indicate that Abhijeet Dipke had last met his grandmother on August 15, when he launched the 'School Thik Karo' campaign in Hingoli. He visited her once more after that but had been unable to see her during the last 20 to 25 days of her life.
