The Delhi Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive traffic advisory outlining special arrangements around the Anand Vihar Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and adjacent transport hubs. These measures, effective from November 5 to November 15, 2026, are in anticipation of a significant surge in passenger movement during the upcoming festive season, which includes Dhanteras, Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja.
The primary goal of the advisory is to ensure smooth traffic flow and ease commuter travel around this busy transport hub, which is expected to experience heavy footfall from both bus and railway station users.
Key Diversions and Affected Roads
Commuters should be aware that several key roads in and around Anand Vihar will be affected. Specifically, Road No. 56 (Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg) and Road No. 57 (Swami Dayanand Marg) are expected to see significant changes in traffic patterns.
- For NH-24 Bound Travelers: Those heading towards National Highway 24 (NH-24) are advised to utilize alternative routes such as the Delhi-Karol Bagh–Barapullah corridor or the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway via GT Road.
- For Ghaziabad and Dilshad Garden: Travelers destined for Ghaziabad or Dilshad Garden should consider taking the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Akshardham, accessible via GT Road, to circumvent congestion around the ISBT.
Parking Prohibitions and Alternatives
A crucial part of the traffic management plan involves strict parking restrictions. All types of vehicles, including buses, commercial transport, taxis, and private cars, will be prohibited from parking on both sides of Road No. 56 (Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg). These restrictions are particularly stringent near the ISBT's entry and exit points, as well as on adjoining approach roads.
Private vehicle owners are strongly advised to use designated parking facilities. These include parking areas on Kaushambi Road, near the Maharaj Showroom, and in the vicinity of Anand Vihar. Authorities have warned that any unauthorized parking on carriageways or approach roads will lead to obstruction and potential legal action.
Advice for Commuters
The Delhi Traffic Police urges all motorists and commuters to plan their journeys well in advance. Following traffic regulations and cooperating with deployed traffic personnel is essential for a hassle-free travel experience. Utilizing alternative routes as suggested can significantly help in avoiding congestion.
