Dr. Ashok Seth, a renowned cardiologist and chairman of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, was dining at Romano, the Italian restaurant within JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, on the evening of September 19. He captured a video showing a small cockroach, which he sarcastically named “Roachie,” crawling across his table near their food.
Dr. Seth subsequently shared the video on social media, tagging relevant authorities including FSSAI and JW Marriott. He noted that despite their attempts, the insect “refused to leave,” and the group eventually lost their appetite and departed the restaurant. The video quickly gained traction, prompting widespread discussion among social media users about pest control and cleanliness in high-end dining establishments.
Marriott Responds, Investigation Underway
In response to Dr. Seth's viral post, Marriott Bonvoy Assist issued an apology on social media, assuring him that the matter would be thoroughly investigated. The hotel's support account requested Dr. Seth's contact and reservation details for further inquiry. Just a month prior, in August, food safety authorities reportedly issued notices to two five-star hotels in Delhi’s Aerocity, including another JW Marriott property.
