· · 2 min read

JioHotstar's newly launched micro-content hub, Tadka, has amassed over 100 million users in less than two months, announced JioStar Chairman Akash Ambani at the Reliance Industries AGM 2026. This rapid growth highlights strong demand for mobile-first entertainment.

Mumbai, India – JioHotstar, the digital entertainment platform under JioStar, has achieved a significant milestone with its recently launched micro-content hub, Tadka. JioStar Chairman Akash Ambani announced at the 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries (RIL) on June 19, 2026, that Tadka has attracted over 100 million users in under two months since its launch.

Rapid Expansion in Digital Entertainment

The rapid adoption of Tadka underscores the escalating demand for short-form, mobile-first entertainment content in India. This achievement contributes to JioHotstar's broader success, which has become the first Indian paid OTT platform to surpass one billion downloads, solidifying its dominant position in the country's streaming market.

Ambani highlighted JioStar's robust financial performance for the fiscal year 2026 (FY26), reporting a full-year revenue of ₹34,917 crore, an EBITDA of ₹5,842 crore, and a net profit of ₹3,434 crore. These figures reflect the strength of its extensive content and distribution network.

Sports Streaming Dominance

Sports streaming continues to be a major catalyst for JioHotstar's growth. During the recent T20 World Cup, where India emerged victorious, the platform recorded an unprecedented 72.5 million concurrent viewers in India, setting a new world record. Ambani noted that JioHotstar now holds nine of the ten highest global live-streaming concurrency records.

The platform's success extended to the domestic cricket scene as well, with the IPL 2026 season drawing over 700 million viewers on JioHotstar. This further cements its status as India's premier destination for live sports. In FY26, JioHotstar maintained an impressive average of 451 million Monthly Active Users (MAUs), showcasing its vast scale and reach across the nation.

Television Leadership Maintained

Beyond digital, JioStar also maintained its leadership in television broadcasting. The network commanded a 34.7% viewership share, a figure Ambani stated is nearly equivalent to the combined share of its next three competitors. Approximately 389 million viewers consume JioStar's diverse content daily across various genres, languages, and formats.
