· · 2 min read

Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan, joined by actors Matt Damon and Tom Holland, will attend the India premiere of his new film, 'The Odyssey,' in Mumbai. This marks the first time a Nolan film has premiered in the country, ahead of its global release.

Mumbai is set to host a major cinematic event as acclaimed director Christopher Nolan arrives in India for the premiere of his latest epic, The Odyssey. He will be accompanied by stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, along with producer Emma Thomas, for the highly anticipated event.

India Joins Global Premiere Tour

Universal Pictures International has officially included Mumbai as a stop on The Odyssey's global premiere circuit, placing it alongside major cities like London, Paris, and New York. This marks a significant moment, as it's the first time a Christopher Nolan film will have its premiere in India, and also the filmmaker's inaugural premiere appearance in the country.

The India premiere of The Odyssey is scheduled to take place at PVR Icon IMAX: Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai. This event precedes the film's worldwide theatrical release, set for July 17.

A Cinematic Spectacle Shot Entirely with IMAX

Written and directed by Nolan, The Odyssey is an ambitious adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, chronicling Odysseus’s arduous decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. The film is notable for being the first feature film shot entirely using new IMAX film technology, promising an immersive visual experience for audiences.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring not only Matt Damon and Tom Holland but also Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. It is produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under their banner, Syncopy.

High Demand for Premium Tickets

Advance bookings for IMAX screenings of The Odyssey across India opened on June 8, quickly garnering attention for their premium pricing. In Mumbai and Pune, certain seats were listed at up to ₹3,000, with some late-night shows in Mumbai reaching ₹3,300, making them among the most expensive movie tickets currently available in the nation. Despite these high costs, demand has been exceptionally strong, with numerous screenings selling out rapidly within minutes of release.
