GTA 6 Pre-Load Begins Nov 10 for PS5, Xbox; Requires Up to 212GB Storage

· · 2 min read

Rockstar Games has announced that pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI begins November 10 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players will need up to 212GB of available storage.

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is nearing its official launch, and players can start preparing their consoles next week. Rockstar Games has confirmed that digital pre-loading for the massive title will begin on November 10, 2026, for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users.

Prepare for a Massive Download

Getting ready for Grand Theft Auto VI means clearing significant space on your console. According to Rockstar's announcement, the pre-load will require a substantial 212GB of available storage. Players should check their current storage and consider deleting unused games or files to accommodate GTA 6 well before its release.

The pre-loading schedule varies slightly by platform:

  • PlayStation 5: Pre-load begins at midnight local time on November 10.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Global access to the pre-load starts at 12 AM GMT on November 10.

For those who have digitally pre-ordered, enabling automatic downloads is recommended. PS5 users should ensure auto-downloads are on and their console is powered on or in Rest Mode. Xbox players need to enable automatic updates and keep their console powered on or in Sleep mode.

Launch Day and Physical Editions

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It's important to note that pre-loading only prepares the game files; access to play will only unlock on the official launch day.

For players who prefer physical purchases, code-in-a-box versions for both consoles will be available at retailers starting November 12. These packages will not contain a physical game disc but rather a download code for redemption and installation.

Rockstar will also offer digital extras, including a printable GTA 6 cover-art poster and a map of Leonida, available for free download on their official website from November 19. A physical, double-sided version of the poster will be available shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store for $0.99, or free with any store purchase.
