In a critical diplomatic maneuver, Iran has conveyed seven specific conditions to the United States through Qatari intermediaries, aimed at de-escalating ongoing hostilities in West Asia. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, confirmed on September 20, 2026, that the comprehensive proposal was delivered to Washington via Doha, accompanied by a stark warning of military escalation should its terms be dismissed.
Tehran's Core Demands for De-escalation
Rezaei publicly outlined three primary prerequisites from Iran's seven-point proposal:
- An immediate cessation of the war across all fronts.
- The unconditional release of frozen Iranian financial assets.
- The immediate lifting of the US naval blockade.
“We remain in contact with the mediator Qatar, which has conveyed our conditions to Washington with the aim of ending the war. We are awaiting President Trump's response,” Rezaei stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Washington has yet to issue an official public response to the conditions.
Warning of 'Decisive War'
In an online statement, Rezaei underscored that accepting Tehran's terms is essential to prevent further conflict. He asserted, “Iran has announced 7 conditions for starting any negotiations to the US government. Tehran's message is clear and unambiguous; if Washington wants to escape the quagmire it has created for itself and avoid getting further entangled in it, it has no choice but to accept Iran's rights and conditions.”
He further warned, “It is in Washington's interest to accept these conditions. Trump's threats will not achieve any results. We are prepared for a decisive war.” Iranian national security officials also cautioned that the threat of renewed US military strikes remains a significant concern, despite the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Military Posturing and Regional Tensions
Amidst the diplomatic overtures, Iran has reportedly restructured its operational plans across regional waters, specifically focusing on US naval assets stretching from the Persian Gulf through the Gulf of Oman into the Arabian Sea. Rezaei also disclosed that Iranian forces recently test-fired a multi-warhead anti-ship missile in close proximity to an American naval vessel, signaling Iran's readiness for potential conflict.
Tehran cautioned that if hostilities were to widen, retaliatory strikes could target American military installations throughout the Middle East, alongside US commercial interests and operating companies. On the nuclear front, Rezaei indicated that while Iran's nuclear doctrine adheres to a religious decree prohibiting non-peaceful arms, sustained US pressure could compel Tehran to reconsider its participation in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Adding to the regional volatility, Yemen’s Houthi movement issued a blunt warning to Pakistan and Turkey, threatening direct military retaliation if either country deploys troops to assist Saudi Arabia or joins the coalition against them. Houthi official Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti declared, “We'll strike them with an iron fist. Just as we are disciplining Saudi Arabia, we'll discipline them too,” in response to discussions regarding regional defense backing.
