Faridkot, Punjab – In a significant operation, Punjab Police have announced the successful dismantling of a cross-border heroin smuggling network, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and weapons. Four individuals allegedly involved in the illicit trade have been apprehended.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed on Sunday, September 20, 2026, that police in Faridkot recovered 47.3 kilograms of heroin. Alongside the drugs, authorities also confiscated three pistols, three magazines, 15 live cartridges, and two vehicles believed to be used in the smuggling activities.
DGP Yadav stated via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that preliminary investigations indicate the arrested individuals are connected to a larger network responsible for smuggling both heroin and illegal arms into Punjab from across the border. An FIR has been registered at PS Sadiq in Faridkot, and further investigations are actively underway to identify the full scope of the network and its various connections.

This latest bust underscores the intensified efforts by Punjab Police to combat cross-border smuggling of narcotics and weapons. DGP Yadav reiterated the force's commitment to maintaining strict vigilance and taking decisive action to dismantle organized criminal and drug trafficking networks operating in the border state.
The operation follows a series of recent successes by Punjab Police against such illicit activities. Earlier this week, Faridkot Police reportedly uncovered an international arms smuggling network allegedly operated from within a jail, leading to two arrests and the recovery of 10 illegal pistols. Additionally, another cross-border narcotics module was recently dismantled in Amritsar, resulting in the arrest of three operatives and the seizure of 17 kilograms of heroin.
These consecutive operations highlight the persistent challenge of cross-border smuggling in Punjab and the police's ongoing resolve to disrupt these criminal enterprises.
